Wolf Brewing Co. – Wood Cutter Dark Ale Review

The Wood Cutter is a dark ale from the Wolf Brewing Company. The beer is a deep amber colour that pours with two thin fingers of head. Through the head comes aromas of smooth toasted malt, caramel and a mild hop bitterness. The taste is not quite what the smell forecast. The toasted malts come through strong with a wonderful smooth flavour while the expected sweetness does not pack the expected punch. Rather that an overly sweet caramel flavour a toasted, lightly bittered body shines through with a warming sweetness hiding just behind the main event. This beer is well balanced with great flavour giving a smooth, unique and very drinkable beer. The beer from Wolf Brewing may not be easy to find but if you see the Wood Cutter Dark Ale at your local liquor store pick up at least one bottle, you will undoubtedly enjoy it.
