Nelson Brewing Co. – Harvest Moon Organic Hemp Ale Review

The harvest moon pours with a thick head and a golden hue. The aroma is strong of malt and the faintest of sweetness. The taste is mellow to start then builds into a bubbly malted and surprisingly sweetened finish. Despite the “Hemp Ale” name this is actually a Kölsch that is no ale at all but rather a lager. While I was curious as to what flavour the hemp would add to this beer the taste is seemingly absent. Other than a touch of sweetness there seems to be nothing out of the ordinary. This is overall a decent tasting beer but doesn’t stand out on any one aspect. It is easy to drink and affordable though and as all Nelson Brewing Co. products are, this beer is organic.

I found the hemp added nutty notes to the kolsch, but that was about the only thing going on here.
